How to Stop Knee Pain When Going Down The Stairs

Home News & Videos How to Stop Knee Pain When Going Down The Stairs

Why Does My Knee Hurt When Going Down The Stairs?

Going downstairs puts a lot of stress on your knee, but your hips are supposed to control that movement. If your hip muscles aren’t doing enough, your knee will most likely absorb more force than it should. Over time, that extra stress can lead to irritation in the front of the knee, which can cause your knee to ache when you push it forward to go down the stairs. That said, it’s not just a knee problem — it’s a load management problem across your entire leg.

How to Fix Knee Pain When Going Down The Stairs

THE FIX:  Sit your hips back slightly as you step down and take your steps nice and slow going down.
