3 Warm Up Moves Your Knees Need Before Leg Day

Home News & Videos 3 Warm Up Moves Your Knees Need Before Leg Day

Leg day shouldn’t start with your knees complaining. If your first set feels stiff, achy, or like your knees haven’t caught up to the rest of you, it may be a lack of a proper warm-up.

In this video, we break down 3 warm-up moves to help prep your knees before you get your legs moving. The best part? No equipment is required, and it only takes a few minutes.

Warm-up moves in this video:

  • Leg Swings — Swing your leg front to back for 60 seconds
  • Butt Kicks — Try it slow and controlled or quick for 30 seconds
  • Knee-to-Chest Stretch — Bring your knee to your chest and hold for 30 seconds

Run through these moves before your first set and see how your knees feel during your squats and lunges. Achy knees are often linked to strength and movement control, and those are things physical therapy may help address.

Want a plan built around your knees instead of generic advice? Book an appointment at a JAG PT location near you in NJ, NY, or PA, and we’ll assess what’s actually driving it.

(This is general information, not medical advice. If you have a knee injury, swelling, or pain that’s sharp or getting worse, stop and see a healthcare professional.)
