Physical Therapy During Pregnancy
Through our women’s health program, one of our rehabilitative options includes a treatment plan to assist with pregnancy related pain. Physical therapy during pregnancy can be very helpful for your pregnancy and the pain that comes with it. Additional weight, increased hormones, a change in the body’s center of gravity, a decline in posture and added stress all may attribute to pain during pregnancy. Our treatment plan will focus on your posture, joint alignment, muscle strength, flexibility and nerve involvement to combat that.
Post-Breast Surgery Rehabilitation
The different types of surgical treatment include a breast biopsy, lymph node biopsy or removal, breast conservation surgery, mastectomy, and breast reconstruction. These surgery options can all have an effect on how you move your shoulder and arm, take deep breaths or go about your activities of daily living. We proudly offer a rehabilitation program that includes a number of stretches and exercises to help you fully recover from surgery.
Female Athletic Conditions
There are certain athletic conditions specific to female athletes that can be addressed through physical therapy, such as the female athlete triad. The female athlete triad is a group of interrelated conditions that is believed to be an energy imbalance that causes disorder eating, amenorrhea and osteoporosis. It can also be caused when athletes exercise excessively while the body is experiencing an energy deficit. Symptoms include rapid weight loss, obsession about body image, shin splints, and loss of interest in sports.
