Name: Katie Blunt

Age: 14

Team: Triple Threat Iron 2025

How long have you been playing lacrosse?: 4 years

What is your favorite aspect of lacrosse?: My favorite aspect about lacrosse is that it is a high-intensity game where I’m able to improve my mental and physical game while being on a team.

Do you have a favorite moment or memory from a lacrosse game?: My favorite memory from a lacrosse game would be when I scored my first game-winning goal on my Rec team a few years ago. When I first started playing, I was uneasy about the sport, but I quickly fell in love with the game.

Who do you look up to?: I look up my Triple Threat coach, Michael Capone. Coach Capone’s passion for the game and always working to make each of his players better is one of the reasons why we have such a strong team. His dedication to the team and uplifting pep talks makes our performances better, while keeping everything fun.

Have you ever suffered a major sports-elated injury? If so, how do you feel that improved your game?: Over the summer at the Junior Women’s U.S. Nationals, I tore my ACL and both my meniscuses while playing defense. This experience has given me the opportunity to analyze the game from off the field and improve my game from the sideline through a coaching perspective.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?: My injury has given me the chance to explore other interests I have outside of sports over the course of the school year. I enjoy acting in plays in my school’s drama cub, learning sign language, and learning how to code. I also like to paint and draw in my spare time.

How does being an athlete inspire you to do good?: Being a teammate and working towards improving your own game not only makes you a good athlete, but it also gives you the motivation to accomplish goals outside of lacrosse.
