CEO of JAG Physical Therapy and MLS’s Associate Chief Medical Officer Recognized for 27 Years as Health Expert for the League
Bridgewater, N.J. (January 14, 2026) – JAG Physical Therapy announced today that President & CEO John A. Gallucci Jr. was honored at the Major League Soccer (MLS) Medical Symposium with recognition for 27 years of service as Associate Chief Medical Officer. The John Gallucci Leadership Award is a new scholarship that will provide rising leaders in the athletic training world with the opportunity to gain exposure to leading MLS experts.
The 2025 annual MLS Medical Symposium offered attendees practical, team-based guidance for safely managing injuries and return-to-play protocols, emergency preparedness for catastrophic events and treatment approaches for complex musculoskeletal injuries. During the event, the committee presented Gallucci with an award named in his honor, recognizing his decades of service to MLS and commitment to players’ safety.
“I appreciate this honor, and I appreciate the evolution and moving forward with the scholarship,” said Gallucci. “I’m humbled, excited, and proud to see what the Major League Soccer community has put together every year.”
Gallucci recounted the Symposium’s years of growth, beginning with Dr. Mandelbaum and a small group of individuals, and expanding to over 350 registrants looking to gain knowledge of soccer medicine and education. “I’m proud to be a part of that and to be surrounded with unbelievable colleagues and mentors for the last 27 years,” said Gallucci. “I'm proud and excited for all of you today to get some of the best minds in soccer medicine to create, to develop and most importantly, keep soccer athletes healthy.”
Entering his 27th year with the League, Gallucci looks forward to his continued role as Associate Chief Medical Officer, aiding in the oversight of medical policies and the health and safety of over 800 MLS players. With extensive experience as the leader of JAG Physical Therapy, his involvement focuses on athletic training and physical therapy expertise to prioritize the league’s overall health and well-being.
