JAG Physical Therapy's Residency Program
Our 12-month program is for licensed physical therapists looking to advance their careers with board certification in their choice of orthopedics, sports, or women’s health. The hybrid curriculum includes synchronous/asynchronous courses and hands-on training with clinical mentorship, anatomy labs, and teaching opportunities.
Participants will seamlessly integrate program requirements while actively contributing to patient care at JAG Physical Therapy and in collaboration with Dominican University New York Physical Therapy Program.
Program Features
- $0 Tuition
- Residents may be responsible for costs including APTA membership dues, travel, and certification maintenance.
- Full or prorated salary options based on preferred patient treatment hours
- Approximately 1600 hours of clinical hours
- Academic instruction hours:
- Orthopedic – Approximately 360 hours of academic instruction
- Sports – Approximately 328 hours of academic instruction
- Women's Health – Approximately 328 hours of academic instruction
- 150 hours of one-on-one mentoring with clinical experts
- Opportunity to participate in cadaver labs at Dominican University

Our residency program allows you to continue working while enhancing expertise in orthopedics, sports, or women's health. After completion of the program, graduates are ready for the Specialty Examination accredited by ABPTS.

Mark Amir is the Residency Director, overseeing all aspects of the program administration, mission, outcomes, and financial management. Mark has hired, trained, and mentored hundreds of clinicians and aspiring clinicians over his 30+ year experience as a physical therapist, business owner, teacher, and advocate of our profession. Dr. Amir helps PT students, recent graduates and experienced PT’s expand their clinical and professional skills to maximize the value they provide to their patients, family, and community.

Application Process
The Program Director will review all completed applications, and the Admissions Committee will use a criteria-based evaluation tool to assess each submission. Qualified candidates will be invited for an interview before a final acceptance decision is made.

Program Outcomes
- Become a highly skilled practitioner in Orthopedic, Sports or Women’s health physical therapy.
- Gain a strong foundation of knowledge in evidence-based practice, manual therapy techniques, research, teaching and advanced medical management.
- Be positioned to achieve Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy, Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy or Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Women's Health Physical Therapy from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) and to be leaders in the physical therapy field.
