JAG PT's Orthopedic Residency
The JAG Orthopedic Residency Program offers our clinicians the chance for a paid post-professional educational experience. This process includes one-on-one mentoring, structured curricular experiences, and guided learning with expert faculty and clinicians. The aim is to enhance the quality of patient care and practitioner knowledge in orthopedic and musculoskeletal clinical care. Throughout this program, residents will receive unparalleled mentorship from experts within their chosen field and collaborate closely with board-certified clinical specialists.
The residency program equips physical therapists with the necessary knowledge, experience, and skill set required to pass the certification examination upon successful completion. The program is currently seeking accreditation from the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE).
Program Features:
- $0 tuition
- Prorated salary based on patient treatment hours
- Approximately 1600 clinical hours
- Approximately 160 hours of academic instruction
- 150 hours of one-on-one mentoring with clinical experts
- Opportunity to participate in cadaver labs at Dominican University

Criteria for Admissions
Required
- 60 consecutive days of current employment at JAG Physical Therapy
- Current, permanent, unrestricted valid license as a physical therapist in the state of practice
- Meet all eligibility and competency requirements to be employed as a practicing physical therapist within JAG Physical Therapy.
- Be in good standing with JAG PT & Profession.
- 3 professional letters of references (1 from a supervisor – past or present)
- A personal letter of interest – maximum 800 words
- Complete an interview with the residency coordinator and director.

- Current BLS certification
- Active APTA membership, including Orthopedic Section Member

- Extracurricular involvement will be taken into consideration as part of your application
- Applicants that graduated more than 5 years prior to the application should demonstrate commitment to their specific field via continuing education, section involvement, scholarly work or teaching
Our residency program allows you to keep your current job while enhancing expertise in the orthopedic setting. The curriculum spans at least 1800 hours including advanced knowledge in musculoskeletal anatomy & physiology and advanced evidence-based clinical practice. Also included are Professionalism, Communication and Patient Management systems, including advanced manual skills.

Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy Coordinator
Michael Fina, PT, DPT, Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy
Michael Fina graduated from Wagner College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Michael then earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Seton Hall University in 2016. While in PT school, he earned his Performance Enhancement Specialization (PES) certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Since graduating from PT school, Michael has been working with JAG Physical Therapy and has developed a very strong passion for orthopedic rehabilitation. In 2020, he obtained a Board Certified Specialization in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. Michael especially takes pride in working with sports-related injuries, post-operative cases, and chronic pain conditions. He believes that a client-centered approach with an emphasis on education, empowerment, and exercise contributes to successful outcomes. Additionally, Michael enjoys being a Clinical Instructor for DPT students.
